A multi-media journalist
At Sanford Underground Research Facility.
I am currently retired. My last position was digital content manager for KOTA-TV News and KEVN Black Hills Fox; managing the news station's websites as well as social media.
I began my career in 1973 as a sports reporter for a weekly military newspaper at Keesler AFB in Mississippi. This was followed by a stint as a reporter at another military paper in Texas; then jobs as a weekly newspaper editor in Turkey, Italy and England. I finally landed in South Dakota to finish my military journalism career at Ellsworth AFB.
When I retired from the military in 1993 I shifted to broadcast news as the KOTA TV News assignment editor. In my 19 years with KOTA, I was the assignment editor, general assignment reporter, senior reporter, a producer and finally assistant news director.
I retired in February 2012 but I guess news runs deep in my veins. When the position as editor of MyTown became available in September 2012 I returned to news. When KOTA-TV News was sold to Schurz Communication, the MyTown site was transferred to the radio department of Duhamel Broadcasting Enterprises. After launching a redesigned MyTown site, I "jumped ship" to return to KOTA-TV News in June 2014. With the sale of KOTA-TV to Gray Television in 2015, I picked up digital responsibilities for KEVN.
I retired in August 2020; but after a little more than a year on the sidelines I am ready to get back into a news operation.
